Space Coast Baseball blogger Stephen C. Smith is the publisher and webmaster of SpaceCoastBaseball.com, a web site that covers professional and amateur baseball in Brevard County, Florida.
The Space Coast has a long baseball history. It was the home of the Houston Astros’ spring training from the 1960s through the 1980s, and later the Florida Marlins. Today it’s the home of the Washington Nationals.
The Space Coast also has the Brevard County Manatees, a Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, and the Space Coast Surge of the Florida Winter Baseball League.
Brevard Community College and Florida Tech, two local colleges, have sent players into professional baseball.
